Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Islamabad (540m)

Meet at the airport, transfer to your hotel, gear check and a relaxed expedition briefing over dinner. A comfortable start before the mountains begin.

Day 2Fly to Skardu (2,250m)

Scenic 45-minute flight over the Karakoram with views of Nanga Parbat and beyond if skies are clear. Spend the afternoon in Skardu adjusting to altitude: walk the bazaar, visit Kharpocho Fort or rest. Road backup via Karakoram Highway if flight is cancelled.

Day 3Drive Skardu to Tastey Village (3,000m) - 6-7 hrs

Beautiful jeep ride through the Shigar Valley to the trailhead village of Tastey. Meet the full crew - guide, assistant guides, cook and porter team, sort final logistics and rest. The Testay Valley opens up above, with first views of the mountains that await.

Day 4Trek to Tastey Meadows (3,300-3,500m) - 4-6 hrs

Gentle introduction walking uphill beside clear streams and through green meadows full of wildflowers. The Karakoram begins to reveal itself as the valley opens. Set up camp in peaceful Tastey Meadows for the night beneath a wide mountain sky.

Day 5Trek to Skoro Base Camp (3,700-4,000m) - 5-7 hrs

Trail climbs steadily with increasingly dramatic glacier and peak views. As you approach the Skoro La Glacier, terrain transitions from pasture to rock and moraine. Base camp sits at glacier's edge - spectacular perch with pass and peak visible above.

Day 6Rest & Acclimatisation at Base Camp (4,000m)

Vital rest day. Short walks around camp help your body adjust to altitude. Optional light scramble to nearby viewpoint if feeling strong. Eat well, hydrate, and prepare mentally and physically for the pass day ahead. Solar charging in mess tent.

Day 7Ascent to Skoro La Pass (5,073m) - 6-8 hrs

The centrepiece of the trek. Climb steadily on snow and ice to reach top of Skoro La - mountain pass with centuries of history and panorama that rewards every step. Karakoram opens up in every direction; on clear day may glimpse distant Baltoro peaks. Descend carefully to camp in lower valley near Darso Brok or Churkah Broq.

Day 8Optional: Skoro Peak Summit (6,130m) - 4-6 hrs round trip

For Skoro Peak Expedition only. If group is strong and conditions right, early start for non-technical ridge to summit at 6,130m. Route follows ridge on snow and rock; no fixed ropes required. Views from top across Karakoram, Testay Valley below and toward Baltoro make every step worth it. Drop back down to lower camp to rest and celebrate.

Day 9Descent to Roadhead & Drive to Skardu (2,250m)

Relaxed morning walk through small hamlets and along streams brings you to jeep track. Say farewell to porter team. Drive back to Skardu for hot shower, proper meal and celebration dinner. Your first proper bed in a week.

Day 10Fly Skardu to Islamabad - Departure (540m)

Morning flight from Skardu to Islamabad. Transfer to airport for international connection or use extra day if flights delayed. Leave with Skoro La crossed, 6,130m summit in your pocket, and wild Karakoram behind you.
