Itinerary
Welcome to Pakistan! Most international flights land at Islamabad International Airport in early morning. Transfer to group hotel, rest and recover from journey. Briefing session about upcoming K2 and Gondogoro La trek. Optional exploration of Islamabad - Pakistan's modern capital city planned and developed in 1961.
Breathtaking 45-minute flight to Skardu, heart of Baltistan, with stunning aerial views of Himalayas and Karakoram range. Glimpse Nanga Parbat (8,126m), sometimes K2 and Gondogoro Pass. Check into hotel, explore local bazaar, historical forts, serene lakes, and 8th-century Manthal Buddha Rock with Buddhist heritage carvings.
Explore historic Skardu, former capital of ancient Baltistan Kingdom. Hike to Kharpocho Fort ruins (early 1700s) for sweeping views of town and Indus River. Visit Manthal Buddha Rock - significant 8th-century granite boulder with Buddha image and inscriptions reflecting pre-Islamic Buddhist heritage.
Drive along Indus, Shigar, and Braldu Rivers to Askoli, the last village before wilderness. Meet porters and continue to Johla by road or trek depending on conditions. Witness adventure start amidst apricot groves and towering peaks.
Demanding 6-8 hour trek covering 20km through arid, sun-baked Braldu Gorge. Leave last permanent settlement, wind through high-desert landscape, cross rubble-strewn Biafo Glacier snout. Lunch at green Korofong oasis under willows. End with dramatic suspension bridge crossing to wind-swept Jula campsite.
6-hour hike along Braldu River. Cross streams, admire first glimpses of Trango Towers, reach Paiju - green oasis beneath Paiju Peak. Ascent 330m, descent 160m.
Challenging 7-hour trek across mixed terrain from Paiju to Khoburtse Camp with views of Cathedral Towers, Trango Group, and Uli Biaho. Approach Baltoro Glacier, witness powerful meltwater streams. Navigate rocky segments and possible stream fording. Ascend 785m, descend 355m.
Shorter 4-hour trek along glacier's edge to Urdukas Camp. Marvel at Trango Towers, Cathedral Peak, and Lobsang while gaining altitude. Trek along undulating moraine beside Baltoro Glacier, pass Great Trango and Nameless Tower. Gain 420m elevation, descend 150m.
Extra day at Urdukas for acclimatization. Easy walks through grassy slopes dotted with alpine flowers, crucial for high-altitude adaptation. Optional gentle walk behind camp along picturesque slopes. Helps reduce altitude-related issues risk.
6-7 hour trek along moraine with vast Baltoro region views including Muztagh, Masherbrum, and Gasherbrum IV. Follow glacier edge, pass Yermanandu glacier, cross large ice expanses and levelled camping ledges. Ascend 535m, descend 280m.
