Itinerary
Meet and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon briefing by guide (route, safety, equipment check). If arrival is early, a short city tour (Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh, local bazaars) can be provided. Final documents and permits are reviewed.
Flight to Skardu for an hour (weather permitting); Otherwise, via luxury vehicle along the Karakoram Highway. Stay in Chilas if traveling by road, and next day arrive in Skardu. Mountain views on descent/approach; hotel welcome dinner and final gear packing.
Full rest day in Skardu. Short local visits: Kharpocho Fort, Sadpara Lake, Shangrila Resort, and Sarfaranga cold desert. Final gear checks and porter/crew introductions. Official briefing for foreign and local guides.
Early departure by 4WD to Askole, the last village before trekking. Off-road journey of 140 km by jeep (6-8 hours). Meet crew and porters, and in the evening, gear check, briefing, and camp introduction at 3,000m altitude.
Trek follows the Braldu River, passing small settlements and wide valley sections. 14 km trek taking 7-8 hours to reach Jhola campsite at 3,100m. First full day on the Baltoro with views of the river and seasonal flora.
Continue along the Braldu glacial valley toward Pajju. 16 km trek taking 7-8 hours with increasingly dramatic rock features (Trango Towers, Cathedral Peak visible). Reach Pajju at 3,418m elevation.
Active rest day for acclimatization. Short hikes to nearby areas and a social evening with local music/dance around camp as groups converge. Porters prepare glacier provisions.
Trek onto glacial sections approaching Baltoro glacier snouts. 12 km trek taking 5-7 hours with careful route-finding across moraines and snow/ice. Lunch at Liligo, continue to Khoburtse campsite at 3,788m.
Shorter but demanding day due to sustained altitude gain. Cross glacial stretches to Urdukas, the last developed campsite. 6 km trek taking 2-4 hours. Spectacular views of Cathedral Peaks at 4,050m elevation.
Trek northwards on glacier terrain toward Goro II. 10 km trek taking 5-7 hours with variable ice, crevasse fields, and moraine humps. Views of G-4, Mashabrum, and Mustagh Tower. Camp at 4,380m elevation.
