Itinerary
Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel. After some rest, you can explore the city, visiting landmarks such as the Faisal Mosque, Pakistan Monument, and Lok Virsa Museum. This provides a gentle introduction to Pakistan's capital and its cultural highlights.
In the morning, you'll take a scenic one-hour flight from Islamabad to Skardu, offering aerial views of the majestic Karakoram Range. Upon arrival, the day is yours to explore Skardu's attractions, including the Manthal Rock Buddha, Kharpocho Fort, and the bustling Skardu Bazaar. In case of flight cancellations due to weather, an alternative route via the Karakoram Highway will be arranged, featuring stops at various scenic spots along the way.
Today, you'll embark on a drive to Khaplu, passing through picturesque villages of the Ghanche district. Highlights of the journey include the confluence of the Shayok and Indus rivers, Thorgo Pari, and the village of Yugo. In Yugo, enjoy a traditional lunch and take a cultural walk to observe village life and interact with locals. Later in the afternoon, continue to Khaplu, where you'll check into your hotel and have the opportunity to visit Khaplu Fort Museum and its organic garden.
After breakfast, a two-hour drive takes you from Khaplu to Kanday village. From there, you'll begin a 6 km trek to Mingulo Broq, situated at an altitude of 3,500 meters. The trail meanders through lush green meadows, offering magnificent views of the region's rocky walls. Upon reaching the campsite, you'll have ample time to relax and explore the natural beauty of the area.
Today's trek is a 3.5 km journey from Mingulo Broq to Nangma Valley, ascending to 3,950 meters. The path leads through verdant fields and runs parallel to a glacial stream. After setting up camp and having lunch, the remainder of the day is free for you to explore the valley's captivating landscapes.
This day is reserved for exploration and acclimatization. An optional hike to Amin Brakk Base Camp, located at 4,500 meters, is available for those interested. Alternatively, you can enjoy the serene environment of Nangma Valley, test your scrambling skills on nearby rocks, or engage in bird watching and flora spotting.
After breakfast, you'll trek back 9.5 km to Kanday, descending 1,050 meters. Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional lunch with a local host family, offering insights into Balti culture and cuisine. Later, a drive to Shigar is arranged, with short stops at various tourist spots. In the evening, check into your hotel and relax.
In the morning, drive from Shigar to Skardu Airport for a one-hour flight back to Islamabad. After transferring to your hotel, the afternoon is available for sightseeing or leisure activities in the capital.
This day serves as a buffer in case of flight delays due to weather conditions. If already in Islamabad, you can opt for additional sightseeing, such as a day excursion to the Taxila Museum and archaeological sites.
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Islamabad International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your Nangma Valley adventure.
