Itinerary
Touch down in Pakistan's capital and begin your journey. Your guide meets you at the airport, transfers you to your hotel and gives you the evening to settle in. Overnight stay in Islamabad.
An early departure onto one of the world's great mountain roads. Breakfast is served en route as the landscape transforms from city to canyon. The Indus River accompanies you most of the way to Chilas, a dramatic gateway to the high north. Overnight stay in Chilas.
Drive to Raikot Bridge where the paved road ends. A 4x4 jeep takes you up the rough track to Tattu Village, from where you trek uphill through dense pine forest to reach Fairy Meadows — an impossibly green plateau with Nanga Parbat looming directly above. Horses are available for those who prefer not to trek. Overnight stay in Fairy Meadows.
For those wanting more, an optional trek leads to Beyal Camp and the Nanga Parbat base camp viewpoint — one of the most dramatic mountain perspectives on Earth. Back at the meadows, visit Reflection Lake and spend the afternoon at your own pace before gathering around the bonfire as night falls. Overnight stay in Fairy Meadows.
Trek back down to Tattu Village and jeep out to Raikot Bridge. The drive north continues through the Three Mountain Junction — where the Karakoram, Hindukush and Himalaya converge — with a stop at the Rakaposhi Viewpoint before arriving in Hunza Valley. Overnight stay in Hunza.
A full day inside one of Pakistan's most iconic valleys. Visit the 900-year-old Altit Fort and the royal Baltit Fort, both with entry included. Wander Karimabad Bazaar for local crafts, dried fruits and Hunzai culture. End the day at Eagle's Nest for one of the finest mountain sunsets in the world. Overnight stay in Hunza.
Head up to Upper Hunza where the landscape becomes even more dramatic. Cruise across the vivid turquoise waters of Attabad Lake, walk the swaying Hussaini Suspension Bridge, and take in the jagged silhouette of Passu Cones rising straight from the valley floor. Stop at Borith Lake and Khyber Village before returning. Overnight stay in Hunza.
A long and rewarding drive south along the Skardu Road with stops at the Rakaposhi Viewpoint and Astak Nala gorge. Arrive at Kachura for a visit to the Upper and Lower Kachura Lakes — optional boating available on the water. Continue into Skardu city for overnight stay.
A full day exploring Skardu's most varied landscapes. Begin at Manthokha Waterfall, a towering cascade tucked into Kharmang Valley. Move on to Shigar Fort, a 600-year-old royal residence now restored as a heritage hotel. End the day at Sarfaranga Cold Desert where optional activities including quad biking, jeep safari and horse riding are available. Overnight stay in Skardu.
Board a 4x4 jeep for a full day excursion into either Basho Meadows — a lush hidden valley with the dramatic Chocolate Mountains — or Deosai National Park, one of the world's highest plateaus and home to the Himalayan brown bear (seasonal access). Overnight stay in Skardu.
